About this Project
This was my first large exploration into a fully 3D background for a project. After hearing the brief, I brainstormed about the approach to the video and decided that instead of handpainted backgrounds, I would try to make a 3D temple with dynamic lighting and brush-strokes.
On top of that, I decided to composite in a 2D animated character that flies with the camera as it zooms into the focal point of the iris. This was a large challenge, but I think it paid off in the end. The background was made entirely using Blender and composited in After Effects

Lessons Learned
3D takes a long time to make minor updates since every edit means another pass which took hours. Thus, I had to be meticulous about my changes on a tight schedule.
